About Me

Hi, I'm Muhammad Ali Syed. I'm a Computer Science graduate with a growing focus on machine learning and AI solutions. I currently work in a business operations role while building a career in ML through hands-on projects, continuous learning, and applied problem-solving.

My Technical Journey

Since completing my degree with First Class Honours, I've developed practical experience across the ML and software stack.

Education & Projects

My final-year project involved training a convolutional neural network to classify skin cancer lesions, where I handled everything from data preprocessing and augmentation to model tuning and evaluation.

Applied Experience

I've contributed to projects that involve real-time messaging apps, immersive learning environments, and automation tools that streamline business processes.

From Business Ops to Machine Learning

Before fully entering the tech space, I worked in retail, hospitality, and community leadership. I managed teams, solved problems under pressure, and handled day-to-day business operations.

These experiences helped me build transferable skills like communication, adaptability, and leadership, which I now bring to technical projects.

In my current role, I'm already applying ML tools to improve workflows, build dashboards, and automate decision-making. This hybrid background gives me a practical edge when bridging data and real-world use cases.

My guiding philosophy

What I'm Working On

1

Exploring natural language processing and reinforcement learning

2

Learning MLOps tools for scaling and deploying models

3

Building portfolio projects that solve meaningful problems

4

Strengthening my backend and cloud engineering skills

Life Outside Tech

I'm a big believer in balance. Outside of ML, I spend my time:

Football

Playing & watching

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Training & competing

Gym

Strength training

Cycling

Around Manchester

Gaming

Relaxation time

These hobbies keep me sharp, focused, and grounded and often give me ideas when I least expect them.

Let's Connect

I'm actively looking for a role where I can grow as a machine learning engineer, contribute to impactful projects, and keep developing both technically and personally.

If you're working on something exciting or looking for someone who brings curiosity, reliability, and a strong work ethic, feel free to reach out.
